SEO : Dofollow vs Nofollow Backinks and its importance

Dofollow vs Nofollow Backinks

When talking about backlinks, we have to better understand Dofollow vs Nofollow Backlinks  as in the earlier post I had discussed " What are Backlinks and It’s Importance "
Let's talk about Dofollow vs Nofollow Backlinks: Technically Nofollow links stop the link juice( it's quality and value ) from spreading to other pages. On the other side dofollow, link tells Google bots( sometimes referred to as spiders ) to follow the link and index the page, thereby giving the linked page value
“Link Juice” is a slang term referring to how powerful a certain link (within a site or from one website to another) is or could be, the link juice flows through sites and into new sites through hyperlinks. The more reputable the site, the bigger boost of link juice the linked-to site gets

What are Nofollow Backlinks?

If a link is set to nofollow, it means Search Engine won’t crawl the link and won’t pass any link juice and thus does not boost PageRank
A no-follow link is created with the nofollow link HTML tag, which looks like this:
<a href=”” rel=”nofollow”>Link Text</a>
You can also make an entire post nofollow with the help of robots meta tag for that you can just add the following statement to the header section of a page/post.
<meta name="robots" content="nofollow" />
By adding the statement above, you can make a whole post/page nofollow, All the links present on the page will be treated as nofollow even though they don’t have Nofollow rel-tag
The nofollow tag is basically a notice sign for search engines saying “don’t count this”, the no follow link tag has done a lot of good for the online world – most SEO spammers won’t bother posting irrelevant links to blogs or forum posts if they know they won’t get to publish a follow link
As a blogger, you might find yourself wondering when to use the no follow attribute and when to allow for do follow links. No, follow links primarily belong in:
  • Paid links (it wouldn’t be fair to buy link juice, now would it?)
  • Comments
  • Forums
  • Anything involving what Google calls “untrusted content”
Some webmaster may disable the nofollow attribute as a reward for blog commenters who are contributing to the blogging community or online discussion, but that’s up to individual discretion

What are Dofollow Backlinks?

Dofollow link passes link juice and they definitely help you much, in order to achieve good page rank. As it instructs search engine spiders to follow this link.
<a href =  rel="external">Example3</a>
This link is dofollow, generally when you left comment on other site, you will see links with rel external attribute, rel=”external” is just to represent that the link is external, it has nothing to do with backlink type. If you find no rel attribute in link then also its being treated as a dofollow link
The best ways to get do follow links is the honest way: creating awesome, original content that gets shared and linked to naturally. Other approaches include guest blogging, especially on a site relevant to your own so that you can build referral traffic in addition to getting an SEO boost
Remember, ultimately you should maintain a healthy balance of do follow and no follow backlinks for the perfect link profile. Do follow links may do more for SEO, but both deserve a place in your online marketing strategy.
